Last Tuesday a group of us gathered for our first Powerhouse Prayer event. Although the numbers were not huge, the Lord brought exactly the right people to be with us. We began with a verse from 2 Chronicles in which God speaking through Solomon reminded us that if we will seek him that he will hear us from and forgive our sin and heal our land. It was a big promise but we had a real sense of his presence and later in the evening God kept that promise in spades.
Here is the powerpoint that was used during the evening: PPE December 2014
David led us in some worship songs, which beautifully set the scene for the first prayer activity. We were asked ask God for things for which to pray. Then we completed some sheets with what God has given for us to pray about. Here is the content of the completed sheets.
A time of open prayer followed, during which Sandra prayed that Darren Rendell who is presently in Sierra Leone would soon be given a precise date for his return. Colin concluded this time with a verse from Isaiah, which can be found on the powerpoint, encouraging us to think big because really wants to grow this church.
After this we began prayerfully to decorate the Christmas Tree, which took for us the place of the Stones of Ebeneezer. It was the practice of God’s people to build a cairn of stones to makr how far God had led them and to remind themselves that God would lead them onwards. This year our tree will be that reminder. It was as we decorated the tree that God kept his promise. Nat received a text to say that the date for his return was fixed for this Sunday. What an amazing God we have!
